Join the Merchants and Drovers Tavern and The Elizabeth Resolutes on August 7, starting at 10am, when we will be hosting six other vintage base ball teams on three fields at Rahway River Park to showcase how base ball was played back in the mid 19th century.

The Resolutes play by the rules outlined in the DeWitt’s Guide to baseball of 1870, commemorating when the original Elizabeth Resolutes captured the New Jersey State Amateur Base Ball Championship, though the teams we’ll be hosting follow the Beadles Dime Base Ball Guide for 1864 rules.

The Vintage Base Ball players all play in period-correct uniforms (often heavy cotton material), and use equipment specific to that era – or lack thereof, making it an exciting game to watch, and offering a historical insight into where the game evolved from.

The Base Ball History Day was conceived by Elizabeth Resolutes team founder and former Captain, Paul Salomone.
