On July 22, the Merchants and Drovers Tavern Museum will be working with American Legion Post 499 to present a commemorative program and reception honoring veterans of the United State Colored Troopers (USCT) whose remains are interred in the Rahway Cemetery.
Post 499 will be presenting the annual “Unsung Heroes” program, which this year will include the presentation of a new commemorative plaque, in the Rahway Cemetery starting at 10AM on Saturday, July 22. The event will take place graveside in the cemetery, but parking will be available in the museum lot (1632 St. Georges Avenue on the corner of Westfield Avenue). After the service honoring the veterans, there will be a reception with light refreshments held in the Merchants and Drovers Tavern building.
The event is free of charge and open to all.
